MANHATTAN, Kan. – With a career-high effort on Saturday at Missouri, Kansas State’s Brittany Chambers earned her first career Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Player of the Week citation on Monday afternoon. This was the 23rd time that a Wildcat has earned the weekly Big 12 honor and the second this season to earn the distinction.

Chambers tallied a career-high 27 points on a career-best 11 made field goals in Kansas State’s 60-55 overtime win at Missouri. The victory extended K-State’s win streak to five - which is its longest in Big 12 play since the 2007-08 season. The sophomore guard connected on 57.9 percent (11-of-19) of her field goal attempts and shot 45.5 percent (5-of-11) from the 3-point line.

With the Wildcats trailing by 11 with 7:33 remaining in regulation, she connected on four straight 3-pointers on four consecutive possessions to bring K-State to within one at the 3:42 mark. The product of Jordan, Minn., also hauled in eight rebounds and registered two steals.

The point total was her ninth career 20-plus point effort and her seventh this season. She moved into ninth place in school history for combined points to begin a career (712) and climbed into 10th for career 3-point field goals made (120). Chambers ranks seventh in school history for three-point field goals made by a sophomore (55) and notched her 11th career game with four or more made three-point field goals, including her seventh this season.

Chambers joins Mariah White as K-State’s two recipients this season to earn the Big 12 Conference’s weekly award. This is the first time since the 2007-08 season that K-State has had two player of the week honorees, as Marlies Gipson and Shalee Lehning earned the recognition that season.

Kansas State returns to action on Wednesday night, as the Wildcats host Texas at 7 p.m. K-State will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of National Girls and Women in Sports Day, beginning at 6 p.m., with special activities on the Bramlage Coliseum concourse.

K-State will provide any girl age 14 and under that is wearing a team shirt or jersey with a free general admission ticket to the game between the Wildcats and Longhorns.
