MANHATTAN, Kan. - Kansas State athletics has announced plans on Thursday for a special birthday celebration for K-State's mascot, Willie the Wildcat, prior to and during Sunday afternoon's women's basketball game against rival Kansas. Sunday's game in Bramlage tips at 12 p.m., as the Wildcats will look to win its 11th straight over the Jayhawks in Manhattan.
Prior to tip-off, fans will have the opportunity to participate in a number of activities on the Bramlage Coliseum concourse including: a design-a-sign table, cookie decorating and face painting. Fans will also be able to get their picture taken with Willie and will have the opportunity to create a Valentine for a member of the 541st Combat Sustainment Support Batalion, Special Troops Batalion and the 84th Explosive Ordinance Disposal of the First Sustainment Brigade, K-State women's basketball's Fort Riley partner unit.
The first 1,000 fans will receive a drawstring backpack, while 300 youth fans will receive a Hoop Head hat.
Also on Sunday, fans are encouraged to bring toilet paper, paper towels and trash bags as members of the K-State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will be collecting donations for their Tipoff for TP initiative which benefits the Manhattan Emergency Shelter.
Sunday's game is the first of a 3-game mini-pack ticket plan available to K-State fans. For just $24, fans will receive a reserved chairback seat ticket for the Kansas game (Feb. 12), Oklahoma State game (Feb. 22) and the final regular season home game of 2012 against Texas Tech (March 3).
