IRVING, Tex. – Kansas State equestrian captain Meredith Finch was named co-Equitation on the Flat Rider of the Month, for her outstanding performances during the month of February in an announcement by the league office on Wednesday.
A senior from Somerville, Ohio, Finch earned wins in both of her matches. She defeated Kimberly Hewson Budnik of Fresno State and Jennifer Delman of Auburn in consecutive days. Her wins also earned her Most Outstanding Performer (MOP) honors. She has compiled a 10-1-1 record so far this season.
Head coach Casie Maxwell was happy to hear the news of Finch’s honor.
“We are so proud of Meredith,” said Maxwell. “She is a fabulous rider who just continues to excel in the arena. Her record clearly reflects her stellar performances and I am just glad that she is getting the recognition that she has worked so hard to earn.”
Oklahoma State’s Samantha Harrison (Equitation Over Fences), Katy Krshka (Reining), TCU’s Kaitlin Perry (Equitation on the Flat) and Samantha Bayer (Horsemanship) were also honored.
The Wildcats are in action on Friday as they host No. 4 South Carolina (6-4) at Timbercreek Stables. The event is free and open to the public.
