MANHATTAN, Kan. – After a week off, the No. 4 Kansas State equestrian team travels south for two conference meets against No. 7 Baylor and No. 6 TCU. The Wildcats will face-off against the Bears on Friday before a Saturday tilt with the Horned Frogs.

“Playing two Big 12 meets on the road this weekend will be a big challenge to our team,” said head coach Casie Maxwell. “We have been riding well and building momentum, and I expect them to keep that energy and confidence on the road.”

Last season, K-State split regular season meets against both schools while knocking off TCU, 10-5, in the first round of the Big 12 Championship.

The Hunter Seat team will look to continue its dominance. During the three-meet winning streak, K-State has outscored its opponents, 20-7.

Senior Rachel Webster has started the season on a strong note, racking up a 6-2 overall record with four Most Outstanding Player (MOP) honors. The two meets this weekend will provide her with the opportunity to add to her impressive start. After earning NCEA Rider of the Month, Cat Avolese will provide the Wildcats with another veteran rider to help continue the winning streak.

The Wildcat Western squad will face tough competition this weekend, but will be full of confidence after sweeping Texas A&M, 10-0.

Kelly Bovaird holds a 4-4 record so far this season, with two MOP honors while competing in both Horsemanship and Reining. Kara Guy has been stellar in her sophomore season with a perfect 4-0 record in Reining. Jordan Cox has been just as good for the Wildcats, holding a 3-1 record. Chayna DeNicolo, Amelia Crites and Emily Stockford have all brought senior leadership to the side.

After the weekend road trip, K-State travels to Martin, Tenn., on Nov. 9 for a dual meet with SMU and UT-Martin. The Wildcats return to Timbercreek Stables on Nov. 22, for the home fall season finale against No. 1 Georgia.
