MANHATTAN, Kan. - Fresh off a two-meet sweep in New Mexico, the No. 6 Kansas State equestrian team will put its four meet winning streak on the line this weekend when they host South Dakota State at Timbercreek Stables on Saturday. This is the start of a two-meet homestand for the Wildcats

K-State (4-1) are coming off of a pair dominant performances which saw the team take down No.9 New Mexico State, 12-3 (1199.5-1147) and West Texas A&M, 14-2 (1225.5-1091).

Head coach Casie Maxwell continues to see improvements in her team and is excited to return home.

"We are looking forward to being back in our home arena this weekend and continuing to build our confidence," Maxwell said. "The team has been riding really well, but we are only half-way through the fall portion of the season and need to continue to progress weekly to stay on top of our opponents."

The Wildcats have seen its veteran riders lead the charge so far this season. K-State's four captains have a combined record of 21-1-1.

The Hunter Seat team have been led by their two captains senior Meredith Finch and junior Rachel Webster. Finch has compiled a perfect 5-0 in Equitation on the Flat, while Webtser leads the team with a 9-1 record. Webster has been competing in both Equitation on the Flat and Equitation Over Fences while earning three Most Outstanding Performer Honors (MOP). The side has also gotten a boost from seniors Kali Yates and Larissa Laffey who are 7-0 and 5-0, respectively.

On the Western side, senior captain Sam Etsell has been flawless on the year. Etsell has won all four of her matches this year to start her campaign while earning two MOPs. Junior captain Kelly Bovaird has been just as impressive, holding a 3-0-1 record so far this season and has earned two MOP honors. The Wildcats have also gotten strong performances from senior Hannah Ribera and junior Jordan Cox.
