PEORIA, Ariz.— The Kansas State women’s golf team fired a 27-over par 603 Sunday and sits in fourth place after 36 holes of the Westbrook Invitational at the par-72, 6,269-yard Westbrook Village Golf Club.
The Wildcats enter Monday’s final round just 18 strokes shy of second-place Washington and Texas Tech, and 20 strokes behind first-place Arkansas.
“This is a solid field,” head coach Kristi Knight said. “There were only three teams (all top-25) that shot a lower total today, and we had a lot of positives to take into the final round.”
Sophomore Olivia Eliasson was strong in the second round of play notching an 18-hole score of even par 72 bettering her stroke count by five from the first round. The Sweden native currently sits in a tie for 13th with a 36-hole score of 5-over par 149. One stroke behind Eliasson is senior Whitney Pyle, who sits in a tie for 17th.
Junior Gianna Misenhelter turned in a 4-over par 76 for both rounds as she currently sits in a tie for 22nd.
Freshman Scotland Preston tallied a 36-hole score of 9-over par 153 to sit in a tie for 29th, while senior Hanna Roos rounded out the scoring lineup with a 15-over par 159.
Competing as an individual, sophomore Carly Ragains carded a 36-hole score of 10-over par 154 to sit in a tie for 38th.
“The ladies competed well today,” added Knight. “They felt as though they left some shots out there today, but knowing that is the key to learning from today.”
Texas Tech’s Elin Arvidsson, Washington’s SooBin Kim, and Arkansas’s Gabriela Lopez all sit in a tie for first with a 36-hole score of 2-under par 142.
