TUCSON, Ariz. – The Kansas State women’s golf team sits in a tie for fourth place after a solid two rounds at the Mountain View Collegiate at the par 72, 6,277 Mountain View Golf Club.
The Wildcats fired a 4-over par 292 in both rounds on Friday to earn a 36-hole score of 8-over par 584, seven shots behind a top-three spot on the leaderboard. Texas Tech currently sits in the top spot with a 3-under par 573.
Each Wildcat golfer sits within three strokes of each other and look to move up on the leaderboard on Saturday.
“We had solid play today overall,” said head coach Kristi Knight. “You always think it could have been better. Even though we were not holing many birdie putts, the ladies stayed patient and were hitting quality shots. They look forward to tomorrow.”
Hanna Roos led the Wildcats on Friday with a 36-hole score of 2-over par 146, three shots behind a four-way tie for third and six strokes behind first-place Krista Puisite of Texas State and Kaitlen Parsons of Northern Arizona.
Gianna Misenhelter and Carly Ragains each turned in a 3-over par 147 to sit in a tie for 19th. Both golfers are looking to earn their first top-20 finish of the spring season.
Olivia Eliasson and Whitney Pyle both fired a 3-over par 75 in the first round as well as a 1-over par 73 in the second round to sit in a tie for 29th.
Results of the final round of the Mountain View Collegiate will be posted at www.k-statesports.com following the conclusion of play on Saturday.
