JOHN'S ISLAND, S.C. — The Kansas State women’s golf team fired a 14-over par 302 in the final round of play Tuesday to move up two spots and finish in 11th at the Briar’s Creek Invitational at the par 72, 6,120-yard Briar’s Creek Golf Club.

“We improved each round,” said head coach Kristi Knight. “We tried to dig ourselves out of the hole we dug in round one, and we almost climbed into the top-half of the field. We did have to many lost shots, but the team competed well and kept battling to move up.”

Olivia Eliasson led the Wildcats for the third time this spring, turning in a 54-hole score of 12-over par 228 to finish in a tie for 13th. This marks the fourth time this season the sophomore has earned a top-20 finish.

Whitney Pyle continued her solid play in the final round notching an 18-hole score of 2-over par 74 to finish in a tie for 40th.

Due to strong second and third round scores, Gianna Misenhelter moved up 33 spots on the leaderboard to finish in 57th. The Overland Park native bettered her stroke count by 16 in the second round to finish with a 54-hole score of 23-over par 239

Carly Ragains turned in a 25-over par 241, and Hanna Roos rounded out the scoring lineup with a 54-hole score of 28-over par 244.

Ashley Armstrong of Notre Dame won the individual competition with a 1-over par 217, three strokes ahead of second-place Laura Wearn of Furman.
