DALLAS, Texas— The Kansas State women’s golf team turned in a final-round score of 26-over par 314 on Sunday to finish in seventh place at the Dallas Athletic Club Invitational at the par 72, 6,301-yard Dallas Athletic Golf Club. The Wildcats carded a 63-over par 927 in the 54-hole event, four strokes shy of a top-five finish.

“This was a strong field, and we picked up wins against teams ranked ahead of us,” said head coach Kristi Knight.  “It is disappointing after a strong start, but, all in all, a solid result. Hopefully our young players can learn from this experience.”

Gianna Misenhelter carded an 8-over par 80 in the final round to finish with a 54-hole score of 13-over par 229, one shot shy of a top-10 finish. Misenhelter picked up her fifth top-20 finish of the season entering the Big 12 Championship.

Olivia Eliasson remained strong in the final round of play as she ended with a 15-over par 231. The sophomore finished in a tie for 20th, capturing her sixth top-20 finish of the season. Whitney Pyle was close to a top-20 finish by turning in a 54-hole score of 18-over par 234 to tie for 26th, three shots shy of the top-20.

“Whitney and Olivia had solid rounds today, and Gianna battled back after getting off to a rough start,” Knight said. “Hanna may have had the round of the day because she played through being sick. Her 81 proved very important. She also showed great heart.”

Carly Ragains carded a final score of 27-over par 243, while Hanna Roos improved her strokecount by 13 in the final round to finish with a 54-hole score of 35-over par 251.

Oklahoma State won the team competition with a final score of 32-over par 896, five strokes ahead of second-place Oklahoma. Oklahoma State’s Julie Yang remained solid in the final round as she won the individual competition with a 54-hole score of 6-under par 210, seven strokes ahead of second-place Chirapat Jao-Javanil of Oklahoma.

The Wildcats will be back in action April 19-21, as they travel to Rhodes, Iowa, for the Big 12 Championship at Harvester Golf Club..
