DALLAS, Texas - Kansas State junior women's golfer Olivia Eliasson carded an even-par 72 Friday and currently sits in a tie for second place after round one of the SMU/Dallas Athletic Club Invitational at the par-72, 6,264-yard Dallas Athletic Golf Club.
As a team, the Wildcats notched a team score of 30 over-par 318 in the first round and is presently in 14th place. K-State one stroke ahead of Nebraska and just seven strokes behind 16th-ranked Wake Forest.
It is the fourth time this season that Eliasson has shot an even-par score for 18 holes. She is currently ahead of seven of the top-50 ranked players in the NCAA and trails tournament leader Yupaporn Kawinpakorn of Kansas by just one stroke.
Senior Gianna Misenhelter carded a 6-over par 78 and currently sits in a tie for 39th. Misenhelter, who was even-par through her first 12 holes, faltered late with a triple-bogey on her final hole of the day.
"Olivia and Gianna played a lot of good golf today," head coach Kristi Knight said. "For Gianna, unfortunately, one poor hole prevented her from having a good score."
Junior Carly Ragains, sophomore Scotland Preston and freshman Katherine Gravel-Coursol each carded a 12-over par 84 en route to a tie for 74th overall.
"We can't change what happened today," Knight said. "However, we can respond tomorrow with a strong team score."
Baylor leads the team scoring after firing a 6-over par 294, seven strokes ahead of 17th-ranked LSU.
