MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State women’s golfer Scotland Preston has been named to the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar Team, the organization has announced.

Preston, one of four Big 12 freshmen and 19 overall from the conference on the list, is the fifth Wildcat named an All-American Scholar since 2007. That year, Katy Heffel, Helene Robert and Abbi Sunner were honored, while Hanna Roos earned the accolade last year. Preston earned a spot on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll both semesters, including the spring semester when she obtained at 4.0 GPA. As a freshman, she was not eligible for Academic All-Big 12 honors.

A native of Mountainside, N.J., Preston competed in six events during her rookie campaign and registered an 80.83 stroke average. Her best finish was a tie for 43rd at the Mountain View Collegiate when she carded a season-best score of 10-over par 226.

The WGCA honors players from all three NCAA divisions as a total of 644 women’s collegiate golfers were recognized by the organization this year. Qualification for the All-American Scholar Team is one of the most stringent among all college athletics as the minimum GPA for inclusion onto the team is 3.50.
