MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State women’s golf team will compete for a second-straight week as it travels to Columbia, Mo., to compete in the Johnie Imes Invitational at the par 72, 6,234-yard Club at Old Hawthorne.
The tournament will consist of 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday, with an 8 a.m., shotgun start both days.
“We are glad to be getting right back out to compete,” said head coach Kristi Knight. “Overall, we were not sharp last week, and the ladies know it. We have an opportunity to get back on the course and play.”
K-State will send the scoring lineup of Whitney Pyle, Gianna Misenhelter, Olivia Eliasson, Hanna Roos and Carly Ragains for the second time this season. Scotland Preston will compete as an individual.
Pyle is coming off a solid sixth-place finish at last week’s Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational at 10-over par 226. The senior was one of four Wildcats to place in the top-20, joining Misenhelter in eighth (13-over par 223), Eliasson in 10th (16-over par 232) and Roos in 11th (18-over par 234).
Ragains finished in a tie for 39th, and in her first team appearance, Preston finished in 56th.
The Wildcats finished second at last year’s Johnie Imes Invitational with a 54-hole score of 22-over par 886. Misenhelter led the Wildcats in the event by tying for fourth at 1-over par 217.
K-State will be joined in the 2012 field by Bradley, Colorado State, Eastern Michigan, Florida International, Illinois State, Indiana, Iowa, Louisville, Mississippi State, Missouri, Missouri State, Montana, Oklahoma City University, Redlands Community College, Southern Methodist, UALR, UMKC and Wichita State.
