Athlete Q&A
Why did you choose K-State?
I chose K-State for many reasons, one being that I had signed with K-State athletics. However the main reason I am here is because of the vet school. Since I applied to and was accepted into the early admissions vet school program, I could not go anywhere else nor would I want to. Finally it is close enough to home so I can go home on the weekends, but far enough away for me to feel independent.

How is rowing different than other sports you've been involved in?
Rowing is very different than any sport I have ever done for many, many reasons. One, I had a very wrong assumption about rowing (I thought it was an all arms sport). Also being on the water is kind of weird for me, I am more a land sports kind of person. Finally I would have to say this sport is what I would call a true team sport. If one person does not do what they are supposed to or loses focus during a race, they let the whole team down. In other "team" sports if someone is not playing up to the standards then the coach can replace them, we do not have that luxury in a race.

What was it like to be recruited to the team?
It was really fun to be recruited. I had a wonderful girl on the team be my host. She really made me feel welcome and helped me feel like I could successfully be a part of this team. Also it made me feel very official and special when I got to sign with all the other college athletes from my high school at our signing ceremony.
