Academic All-Big 12 Rowing Team
MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Big 12 Conference announced its Academic All-Big 12 Rowing Team on Wednesday with 23 K-State Wildcats making the grade. A total of 105 student-athletes were recognized for their work in the classroom and 12 had perfect 4.0 GPAs.
K-State’s 23 overall honorees trailed only the 25 from Texas and Oklahoma’s 24. The Wildcats placed 17 on the first team with GPAs of 3.20 or higher.
Two Wildcats were among the 12 student-athletes with perfect 4.0 GPAs as Elizabeth DeMars and Abgail Weaver were honored. The 15 other Wildcats to join DeMars and Weaver on the first team were: Katie Arrow, Laura Baumgartner, Aly Bronder, Allison Dorau, Danielle Glynn, Madalynn Haney, Jessica Kuhlman, Adria Ley, Brittany Long, Samantha McCloud, Megan Murray, Kara Omo, Lindsay Schemeidler, Jennifer Smisek and Ashley Standage. On the second team were: Ali Franken, Natalie Greene, Hayley Harvey, Hillary Schartz, Allison Tuxhorn and Justine Walsh.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a GPA of 3.00 to 3.19.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
