MANHATTAN, Kan. - Senior Amanda Weishaar has received multiple academic awards throughout her career as a member of the Kansas State rowing team. On Wednesday she added to that long list as she was named to the 2012 Conference USA Rowing All-Academic Team along with 14 other student-athletes from the league. It marks the second straight year Weishaar has been honored by the league on the all-academic team.

Weishaar carries a 3.9 GPA majoring in public relations and is a member of the University Honors Program and Mortar Board National College Senior Honor Society. During her senior campaign, Weishaar has competed in both the 1st Varsity 8 and 2nd Varsity 8 boats and served as a co-captain.

The Conference USA All-Academic Team consists of student-athletes who have earned a 3.2 cumulative GPA or better and are a key contributor to their team. Nomination and voting is done by the league's sports information directors. This year's squad each compiled a GPA or 3.7 or better, averaging an impressive 3.88. Seven members were unanimous selections. Eight, including Weishaar, were repeat members on the team.

Weishaar and her Wildcat teammates will take on the rest of league this weekend in Oak Ridge, Tenn., at the 2012 Conference USA Rowing Championship. Action starts at 9 a.m. Saturday on Melton Hill Lake. Fans can keep up with the action via the Championship Central page on conferenceusa.com.
