MANHATTAN, Kan. – Senior Allison Dorau has received multiple academic awards this season as a member of the Kansas State rowing team and on Thursday she added to that list as she was named to the 2013 Conference USA Rowing All-Academic Team along with 18 other student-athletes from the league. It is her first time being honored by the league on the all-academic team.
Dorau carries a 3.90 GPA majoring in elementary education and a member of Mortar Board, Kappa Delta Phi and Phi Beta Kappa honorary societies. During her senior season, Dorau has competed in the 1st Varsity 8, helping the boat to a bronze medal at the 2013 SIRA Championships recently.
The Conference USA All-Academic Team consists of student-athletes who have earned a 3.2 cumulative GPA or better and are a key contributor to their team. Nomination and voting is done by the league’s sports information directors. This year’s squad each compiled a GPA or 3.5 or better and averaged 3.88.
Dorau and her Wildcat teammates will take on the rest of league next weekend in Oak Ridge, Tenn., at the 2013 Conference USA Rowing Championship on Melton Hill Lake. Fans can keep up with the action via the Championship Central page on conferenceusa.com.
