Sophomore qualifies for USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships
Olga Klimova enters her fourth year as K-State's assistant coach, following a four-year career under the tutelage of head coach Steve Bietau.
Klimova, a product of Brno, Czech Republic, has helped the Wildcats to steady improvement over the previous three seasons, as K-State has registered records of 4-15 in the 2009 season to a slight improvement of 7-13 in 2010 to a school-record for wins in a season with a mark of 16-7 during the 2011 campaign.
During her playing career in Manhattan, Klimova fought through knee injuries to record a 31-48 career singles mark. Klimova was a solid doubles player during her career, as she tallied a 50-49 doubles record and a 20-12 record in Big 12 doubles play.
She was also a standout in the classroom during her time as a Wildcat, earning an Academic All-Big 12 second team citation in 2007 while majoring in psychology.
"One of the things that set Olga apart is the way she interacts with those around her," said head coach Steve Bietau. "Her enthusiasm is genuine and will be a very valuable part of the championship-type culture we strive to develop within our team."
