TULSA, Okla. – No. 52 Kansas State captured the doubles point for the fourth straight match, but the Wildcats were unable to string together three singles victories and fell to No. 69 North Texas on Saturday afternoon, 4-3, at the Case Tennis Center. The loss snaps K-State five-match winning streak.

The Wildcats (5-2) outdueled the Mean Green (2-5) with wins at number one and two doubles. Head coach Steve Bietau utilized the doubles lineup he used against Liberty on Feb. 1, and K-State responded with the team’s fourth straight doubles point.

At number one doubles, the No. 59 ranked tandem of Petra Niedermayerova and Amina St. Hill registered an 8-5 win over Kseniya Bavdabush and Anastasia Shestakova. This was just the fourth time Niedermayerova and St. Hill have been paired together and the duo is now 4-0 together.

With the doubles victory, Niedermayerova boosted her career doubles record to 69-44 and remain in second on the K-State career doubles wins list. With five more doubles victories, she will become the K-State career record holder for doubles wins.

The Wildcats registered the doubles point, as the number two tandem of freshmen Palma Juhasz and Iva Bago sent Kamila Galima and Alexis Thoma to an 8-5 defeat. The tandem of Bago and Juhasz improved to 3-2 together this season and are 2-1 in the number two position in the lineup.

In singles, Niedermayerova secured her ninth win in her last 11 singles matches with a 6-0, 7-5 win over Bavdabush at number one singles. Niedermayerova, ranked No. 55 in the national ITA singles rankings, is 15-5 this season and owns a career mark of 78-21 in straight set matches including a 13-2 record this season.

Niedermayerova, a two-time ITA All-American and three-time All-Big 12 singles selection, improved her school record for career singles wins 95-38 (.714). Her career singles winning percentage of .714 ranks second in program history.

St. Hill registered K-State’s other singles win with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Ana Sofia Cordero at number six singles. The win was St. Hill’s sixth straight. She improved to 10-6 this season and boosts her career record 30-34.

K-State will look to rebound on Sunday in Tulsa, Okla., as the Wildcats face No. 23 Tulsa at 10 a.m.
