MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State senior Petra Niedermayerova secured yet another piece of school history on a warm Saturday afternoon at Mike Goss Tennis Stadium. No. 25 Texas sent No. 69 K-State to its fourth straight loss with a 7-0 decision. The Wildcats are now 8-9 this season and 2-3 in the Big 12.

In doubles, Texas (9-9, 4-1 Big 12) quickly won at number two doubles, but the Wildcats rebounded with a 7-4 win at number one doubles by the combination of Niedermayerova and Amina St. Hill. The top tandem for the Wildcats improved to 8-3 this season, including a 2-2 mark in Big 12 action.

With the win at number one doubles, Niedermayerova secured yet another piece of K-State women’s tennis history by tying the school record for career singles wins with a 73-47 (.608). She needs one doubles win to surpass Petra Sedlmajerova (73-55; 1999-03) for the school record in career doubles victories.

At number three doubles, the K-State tandem of Maria Panaite and Livia Cirnu rallied from a 6-1 deficit to even the match at 6-6 apiece before the Longhorns’ duo of Pippa Horn and Juliana Gajic won the final two games to secure the doubles point for Texas.

In singles, Texas secured the win with straight set victories at numbers one, two and three singles. All three positions for the Longhorns featured Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) ranked players.
K-State will end its four-match home stand on Sunday, as the Wildcats host No. 16 Baylor at 11 a.m. The match is set to be played outdoors at Mike Goss Tennis Stadium. Admission and parking are free.
