COLUMBIA, Mo. – Kansas State recovered from three separate deficits at No. 45 Missouri on Sunday, as junior Carmen Borau Ramos sealed a second straight 4-3 win for the Wildcats. The Wildcats have now won consecutive matches for the first time since Feb. 11 and Feb. 18.

The Wildcats improve to 7-13 this season and 3-5 in the Big 12, while the Tigers fall to 10-9 overall and 2-5. K-State is now 11-5 in matches played in Columbia, Mo., and are 24-10 in the series with Missouri.

The Tigers captured the opening point of the afternoon Wildcats by winning the doubles point. Missouri carded wins at number one and two doubles to capture the first point. K-State’s number three duo of freshmen Marketa Trousilova and Carli Wischhoff defeated Alex Clark and Ashleigh Chiaf, 8-5. Trousilova and Wischhoff captured their fifth victory in their last six matches and own a 5-6 mark together this season including a 4-4 record in the Big 12.

K-State quickly bounced back into the match, as sophomore Petra Niedermayerova and junior Karla Bonacic pulled the Wildcats into a 2-2 tie. Bonacic tallied the easiest point of the afternoon as her Missouri counterpart at number two singles, Rachel Stuhlmann, withdrew due to an injury after Bonacic won the first game.

With the win on Sunday, Bonacic boosted her record this spring to 15-5 and 6-2 in Big 12 play. The junior from Split, Croatia, is 20-7 in her career from the number two position in the lineup and owns a career mark of 54-33. Dating back to the final three matches of the 2010 spring season, Bonacic has won 34 of her last 41 matches in dual match action.

After Missouri retook the lead at 2-1 with a win at number three singles, Niedermayerova carded a 6-4, 7-5 win over Nina Pantic at number one singles to tie the match at two. Niedermayerova, ranked No. 29 in this week’s Campbell/ITA national singles rankings, improved to 15-5 this spring with Sunday’s win. For her career, the sophomore from Brno, Czech Republic owns a 46-21 overall record including a 21-11 mark this season and a 5-3 ledger in the Big 12.

Following the Tigers capturing a straight set win at number five singles and taking a 3-2 lead, freshman Carli Wischhoff responded with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Jamie Mera at number four singles. The Heelsum, Netherlands native ended a personal five-match skid with the victory. The win was Wischhoff’s first career triumph in the number four position in the lineup and improves her record with the Wildcats to 5-8 overall and 3-3 in the Big 12.

For the second straight match, the responsibility of closing out a K-State win fell to Borau Ramos. The product of Jaca, Spain was up to the challenge clinching the victory for K-State with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Annemijn Koenen at number six singles. Against the Cyclones, Borau Ramos had been elevated to the number five position in the lineup due to a K-State injury, but she responded with a match-clinching 3-set win over Jenna Langhorst.

Borau Ramos tied her career-high for wins in a season with her 10th. This spring, she owns a 7-8 mark and a 5-2 record in Big 12 play.
