Wildcats Continue Action at K-State Fall Invite

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State returned to Mike Goss Tennis Stadium on Saturday for the second day of the K-State Fall Invitational. The Wildcats faced Wichita State in singles and then closed out the doubles portion of the weekend schedule with a pair of doubles matches in the late afternoon and evening.

The Wildcats closed out its doubles schedule at the K-State Fall Invitational with four victories. Head coach Steve Bietau adjusted his doubles lineups from Friday and saw his squad respond with three 8-1 wins over Kansas City. The duo of junior Amina St. Hill and freshman Palma Juhasz were left together by Bietau and remained unbeaten for the weekend with an 8-1 win over Dimitra Stavrianakou and Linda Ammar-Mouhoub.

St. Hill and Juhasz returned to the court roughly 20 minutes after defeating the Kangaroos to notch an 8-2 win over Montse Blanco-Fernandez of Wichita State. St. Hill and Juhasz finished the weekend with an unbeaten doubles mark.

In K-State’s singles action, the Wildcats were able to get a preview of a 2014 spring opponent by facing Sunflower State foe Wichita State. K-State tallied one singles wins during the afternoon matches. Freshman Riley Nizzi carded her second career win in as many days with a 6-3, 6-2 decision over Summer Schlotterback.

Action will conclude at Mike Goss Tennis Stadium for the K-State Fall Invitational on Sunday beginning at 9 a.m., with singles matches between Kansas City and Wichita State. K-State will face Omaha in singles at 11:30 a.m., to wrap up the weekend.
