MANHATTAN, Kan. – No. 36 Kansas State will open Big 12 play this weekend, as the Wildcats travel to the state of Oklahoma to face No. 28 Oklahoma State on Friday, March 8 and No. 40 Oklahoma on Sunday, March 10.

In K-State’s last match, the Wildcats (4-4) suffered 7-0 sweep at the hands of No. 10 Nebraska on March 2 in Lincoln, Neb. This was the first sweep K-State has suffered since March 18, 2012 against Memphis. In the match with the Huskers, K-State dropped the doubles point for the fifth straight match and own a 1-4 record in those matches.

For the season, Kansas State has been led by the tandem of junior Petra Niedermayerova and senior Karla Bonacic. Niedermayerova, ranked No. 17 in the national ITA singles rankings, has registered her third straight season with 20 or more wins and leads the team with a 21-6 overall record including a 7-1 mark this spring. The junior from Brno, Czech Republic needs four singles wins to set a new career-high for singles wins in a season.

For her career, Niedermayerova is 69-29 (.704) in her career and ranks fourth on the K-State career singles wins list. She needs one win to become the fourth player in school history with 70 career singles wins. She needs eight singles wins to move into a three-way tie for second with Petra Sedlmajerova (1999-03; 77-47) and Jessica Simosa (2001-06; 77-61). She needs 10 wins to move into a tie for first with Maria Rosenberg (2000-05; 79-54).

Bonacic, ranked No. 94 and playing at No. 2 in the K-State lineup, owns a career record of 48-17 in dual match action, including a 26-10 mark from the No. 2 position in the lineup. Dating back to the final three matches of 2010, Bonacic has won 40 of her last 50 dual matches. For her career, Bonacic is tied for sixth in school history for career singles wins with a mark of 64-39 (.621).

Following this weekend’s matches in Oklahoma, K-State will venture into non-conference action for the final time this season to face Cal Poly on March 17 and No. 67 Fresno State on March 18 in Fresno, Calif.
