MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State women’s tennis student-athlete Petra Niedermayerova is prepared to represent the Wildcats at the 2012 USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in Flushing, N.Y. The championship involves a 32-player singles draw and will be contested from Nov. 8-11 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center and is hosted by Columbia University.
Niedermayerova, the top singles seed in the Central Region and the No. 14 player in the ITA national singles rankings, gained an automatic berth into the 2012 USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships by winning the singles main draw at the ITA Central Regional in Tulsa, Okla., on Oct. 22. This will be her second straight appearance at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships. At the 2011 event, Niedermayerova went 1-2.
Niedermayerova, a 2012 ITA All-American and a two-time All-Big 12 selection, will enter this weekend’s event with a six-match winning streak and owns a fall record of 11-1. The junior from Brno, Czech Republic, owns a career singles record of 59-24 (.711), including a 16-13 mark against opponents ranked in the national ITA singles rankings. Niedermayerova’s career mark in straight set matches stands at 51-13 (.797), which includes all 12 matches she has played this fall. Niedermayerova’s career winning percentage of .711 ranks second in school history.
