Registered double-digit kills in nine matches, including a season-best 19 kills in the Wildcats' come-from-behind 3-2 win over Arkansas (Nov. 30) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament... Led the team in kills against Baylor (Nov. 14)... Had at least five kills in 23 of the 28 contests she played ... Totaled five double-doubles on the year... AS A FRESHMAN (2000): Saw action in 26 matches and 86 games as a middle blocker with 16 starts... Recorded the fourth-highest hitting percentage and the highest by a freshman in a single-season in Kansas State history with a .354 average... Ranked third in the Big 12 with the .354 hitting percentage, while she placed sixth in conference-only matches with a .349 percentage... Not only led the team in hitting percentage, but also tied with Kelle Branting for the team-lead with 11 solo blocks... Finished second on the team in block assists (69), total blocks (80) and blocks per game (0.93)... Ranked fourth on the team in total kills (220), kill per game (2.56) and service aces (21)... Posted double-digit kills in 10 matches, including 15 or more on five occasions... Tied for the team lead in kills in the 3-1 loss to No. 4 Wisconsin (Dec. 8) in the Mideast Regional Semifinals... Recorded double-digit attacks in 20 matches, including 20 or more attacks on 10 occasions... Tallied a hitting percentage of .300 or above in 18 matches, including .400 or higher in nine occasions... Had four matches where she tallied no hitting errors... In her first career start against No. 17 BYU (Sept. 5), she posted six kills with two block solos and two digs... Turned in an all-around impressive match her home opener against Air Force (Sept. 9) at the Wildcat Classic, as she tallied 12 kills (with no errors in 14 attempts) on .857 hitting with a season-high four service aces, two blocks and two assists... Her .857 hitting percentage against the Falcons ranks as the third-highest hitting percentage in a three-game match in school history... Connected on 10 kills (with no errors in 17 attempts) on .588 hitting with a season-high three blocks in a three-game win over Texas (Sept. 27)... Posted 15 kills on 28 swings for a .393 hitting percentage in a loss at Missouri (Sept. 30)... Had just one error in 24 attempts with nine kills in a victory over Kansas (Oct. 4) with five total blocks... Tied her season-high with four service aces against Oklahoma (Oct. 7)... Poured in 14 kills (with just one error in 28 attempts) on .464 hitting in a five-game win over No. 22 Texas A&M (Oct. 14)... Began a streak of three consecutive double-digit kill matches with 14 kills (one error in 30 attempts) on .400 hitting in a five-game loss at Baylor (Oct. 25)... Also started a streak of five straight matches with four or more total block matches with five against the Bears... Followed that with 16 kills on .353 hitting and five blocks in a five-game win over Texas Tech (Oct. 28)... Recorded a season-high 17 kills (in just 26 attempts) on .538 hitting in the Wildcats' come-from-behind victory over Texas (Nov. 4) with four blocks... Tallied a .583 hitting percentage with nine kills in a three-game win over archrival Kansas (Nov. 11)... Helped the Wildcats to a near-upset of unbeaten Nebraska (Nov. 25) in the home finale, as she recorded 13 kills and five digs... Showed her true potential in the postseason when the pressure was on the line for the Wildcats... Collected eight kills in the opening round win over Loyola-Chicago (Dec. 1) in NCAA Tournament... Played possibly her finest all-around match in helping K-State to its first-ever trip to the Sweet 16 with 16 kills on .394 hitting against host and No. 15 Pepperdine on Dec. 2... Also added a season-high six blocks, including two solos, and three digs against the Waves... Followed that with a glimpse of the future in the 3-1 loss to No. 4 and eventual national runner-up Wisconsin at the Mideast Regional Semifinals, as she tied her season-high with 17 kills on 36 swings for a .333 hitting percentage... Added a season-best seven digs to go with four total blocks in the finale against the Badgers.
AT FOSSIL RIDGE HIGH SCHOOL (1996-2000): Letterwinner in volleyball all four years at Fossil Ridge High School in Fort Worth, Texas... Four-year starter for the Panthers... The first four-year letterwinner and starter in Fossil Ridge history... A member of the U.S. Youth 17-under National Olympic Team... Trained with the U.S. Junior Olympic team for two years but opted to return for her senior season of high school... It was her second stint with the program that eventually helps determine the U.S. Olympic team every four years... One of the driving forces behind the National Team's gold medal at the Norceca Tournament in Puerto Rico during the summer of 1998... The week-long event served as a qualifier for the world championships... Honored as a high school All-American as a senior by the National Recruiting Service... Named to the Texas High School Coaches Association All-State team and earned the Dallas Morning News All-Area first team honors as a senior... Led the Lady Panthers to the playoffs for third time in four years during her senior season as she totaled 393 kills (with just 29 errors), 186 total blocks (85 solo and 101 block assists) and 165 digs... Led the team in kills and blocks for three seasons... Named the most valuable player of District 11-4A as a senior, considered by some the toughest district in that classificiation... Honored as the Co-Offensive Player of the Year in her district as a junior... Earned first team all-district honors three times during her high school career... PERSONAL: Lauren Michelle Goehring was born August 6, 1982, in Fayetteville, N.C. ... The daughter of James and Rebecca Goehring... Oldest of two children... Has a brother, Benjamin... Father, James, was an outside linebacker for Clemson in the mid-1970s... Ranked in the Top 20 of her high school graduating class... Was born in North Carolina, but has lived in Indiana, Nebraska, South Carolina and Texas... Began playing volleyball in the third grade for a YMCA team in Lincoln, Neb. ... Had college coaches watching her play when she was in the eighth grade, and before her sophomore year she had already received interest letters from 14 Division I schools... Would like to open a bed and breakfast after graduation... Is majoring in general management, organizational management and financial services.
