Kansas State Coach and Player Quotes
Head Coach Suzie Fritz
On  the win…
“I think that what we told our team was when we get to game three, it is your third match in two days and sometimes it is just not pretty. We just had to grind it out and that match was just as much as grinding out as you will see. Every game was separated by two points. We made a very adjustments heading into the fifth (set). We really tried to encourage them to be who they were, stay loose and mange their emotions. Once we found who we were in game four and into game five, I liked the way we played and I like the way we found the points.”

On the team facing adversity…
“Tests like that are enormous, because when you get into those situations later on if you have been there a few times, it helps your confidence. This team found ways to win five game sets last year and they have a special quality about them. They are very persistent in the way that they play. Times and flows are little dramatic then I would like but when it comes down to it, they can turn it up a notch. ”

On Kaitlynn Pelger, Lilla Porubek and Caitlyn Donahue
“They have led us in kills for a long time. When it is time to go, you feed the bear.”

Junior middle blocker Kaitlynn Pelger
On  the win tonight…
“It was awesome. We did not expect them to be as scrappy as they were. We knew that they would be the better team out of the tournament. They were awesome. They kept balls alive and they kept us on our toes. We kind of lost ourselves in the third match. They put it on us and we needed that and we came back to win this game.”

On Oregon State’s system…
“We were in the middle of the match and we had to figure it out. Their systems are a lot different from what we see. They are very spread block team so we kind of mixed it up a bit and finally got it going.”

On Lilla Porubek’s play…
“I am never worried about Lilla coming down to it. She is a great player, she is smart, she knows what she is doing out there and when it comes down to it she is going to kill the ball.”
