K-State at Missouri State

Post-Match Quotes

Head coach Suzie Fritz…

On 250th career win…

“It means it I am blessed to have had the opportunity to coach a lot of good people over several years. Those wins don’t belong to me; they belong to the 13 years of Wildcats that have come through and worked hard for us as well as the coaches who have put in their time and efforts. It’s not a one-person show. It’s a team effort and there are many people who have contributed to the success of our program over that span. As you know, too, it’s better than losing 250.”

On the team’s consistent performance against Missouri State…

“One thing that we asked them for [after Saturday] was consistency. Can we have these little runs or races to five points, 10 points, 15 points and so on. One, we needed to get started a little faster and two, we needed to manage the middle segments of the game better. The team took that to heart. Coming out of the locker room between game two and three, we talked about the temperament and not having a letdown. We managed our emotions really well and were consistent from start to finish.”

On the preparation for the match…

“Our coaches are terrific. Jeff [Hulsmeyer] and Jeff [Grove] do a great job of preparing them for what they are going to see. Thanks to the team’s maturity, they are starting to see things develop at a higher level than when they were younger players. The games have slowed down for the team to some degree. They are starting to see developments together and that’s what we want defensively.”

On the team’s depth…

“What we are excited about is that it is someone different [each match]. At some point over the course of the [nonconference schedule], every player has been tremendous. Each one has had their match or two or three matches. We also have some people who are pretty consistent. I like our depth and versatility.”
