MANHATTAN, Kan. – With the fields finalized for a tournament in Dallas later this month the Kansas State volleyball team’s spring scrimmage schedule has been set. The Wildcats will play four dates during spring workouts and host one tournament in Kansas City.
The tournament in Kansas City is set for this Saturday on the campus of UMKC. The Wildcats will play four matches taking on UMKC, Arkansas, Missouri State and Drake. Matches will be played at Swinney Recreation Center on UMKC’s campus beginning at 9 a.m. After a lunch break action will resume at 1 p.m. St. Louis and Nebraska-Omaha will also be competing. Missouri State will split into two squads as well.
K-State will host Washburn on April 17 in Ahearn Field House. The match will be played in the upper gym of Ahearn at 4 p.m. and fans are welcome to watch for free.
Following the home match with Washburn the Wildcats will travel to Dallas, Texas, for the 2013 Lone Star Classic College Showcase on April 20. The tournament features 16 teams with K-State set to take on the NCAA Champion Texas Longhorns, Ole Miss Rebels and LSU Tigers in their pool. All teams are guaranteed three matches. The winner of K-State’s pool will take on the victor in a pool with Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Texas State and Baylor in a championship game. The Lone Star Classic College Showcase will be played at the Dallas Convention Center Arena.
After playing in Texas, K-State will return home for another week of practices leading up to its match against Illinois. The Fighting Illini and Wildcats will play another neutral site match during spring on the campus of Williams Woods College in Fulton, Mo., on April 26.
