KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The K-State volleyball team captured a pair of scrimmages on Friday, beating Missouri 2-1 (15-25, 25-21, 15-8) and sweeping the professional team Heart of America Havoc 2-0 (26-24, 25-23) at the Heart of America volleyball facility in Kansas City, Kansas.

In the three-set match against Missouri, early-arriving freshman Kylee Zumach led K-State with eight kills, including six in the third and final set. Junior Taylor Johnson contributed seven kills on a .380 hitting percentage.

Against Havoc, three different Wildcats tied for the team lead with six kills: Chelsea Keating, Brooke Sassin and Natali Jones. Keating also added two aces, tying her with Kersten Kober for the team lead in that category. Sophomore transfer Sheridan Zarda had eight digs to lead the way for the Wildcats.

"We had some specific goals going into the scrimmage tonight and we feel very good about the progress," said K-State head coach Suzie Fritz. "We've been working a lot on developing our offensive rhythm and saw some nice progress. I was excited about the way we competed and handled difficult, tight-game situations. We are a team that is still developing cohesion and our identity, but I like the direction we are headed."

K-State will host its annual spring tournament next Saturday, April 12 at Blue Valley West High School in Stilwell, Kan. The Wildcats will compete amongst six other programs, including Drake, Illinois, Kansas, Kansas City, Saint Louis, and Wichita State. First set of matches start at 9 am.
