MANHATTAN, Kan. – After two dominating performances from each, the Big 12 Conference named JuliAnne Chisholm and Alex Muff both players of the week. Chisholm earned Offensive Player of the Week honors for Kansas State while Muff received recognition as the Defensive Player of the Week.

The pair combined to put up impressive numbers to open Big 12 action with back-to-back wins for the first time since 2007. Chisholm and Muff both lead the conference in two statistical categories through the first week of league action.

Chisholm opened the week with a double-double against in-state rival Kansas as she posted 15 kills and 10 digs in the 3-1 win. She followed that with arguably her best match of the season pounding out a season-high in kills, despite the match at Texas Tech only going three sets. Chisholm blasted 19 kills against the Red Raiders to lead the attack in the sweep. She also tallied two efficient performances as she hit .268 against KU and .286 against Tech. Chisholm’s 4.86 kills per set and 5.36 points per set currently lead the Big 12 in conference games.

Muff dominated the net this week as she stuffed nine blocks against Kansas on Wednesday and backed that performance up with seven against Tech on Saturday, including the final nail in the coffin on match point. In addition to her conference-high 2.29 blocks per set this week, Muff pounded out 12 kills against KU on Wednesday while hitting .500 on 18 attempts. Against the Red Raiders, she continued her consistency with eight kills and no errors to hit .667 and lead the conference in hitting percentage for the week as well at .567.

This is the first Big 12 Player of the Week honor for both Chisholm and Muff. They were joined this week by KU’s Brianne Riley as the Big 12 Rookie of the Week. The Wildcats prepare to face Colorado on the road on Wednesday night in search of three straight conference wins to open league play for the first time since 1999.
