Why should I contribute to the BTF?
Because we need the entire K-State Family to come together and be a part of the future of K-State basketball to make this dream a reality!

Will gifts to the BTF be visibly recognized within the facility?
Yes. All gifts of $100 or more will be recognized within contribution levels in a prominent location in the BTF.

Has the construction process started and how long will it take to complete?
Yes, the construction has started with a formal groundbreaking ceremony on February 26th, 2011. Construction is estimated to take 12-18 months with completion anticipated for spring, 2012.

How much money has been raised and how much is needed?
There is a great deal of fundraising momentum and excitement for this project. We have already received over $14 million in pledges towards the $17.6 million estimated total project cost. So, we still need your help to fully complete this project as budgeted!

What is the difference between "construction cost" and "project cost"?
The winning bid to build this facility was approximately $12.2 million ("construction cost"). In addition, there are approximately $5.4 million in other expenses (such as furnishings and equipment, site work, architect and engineering expenses, state and university fees, and contingencies) bringing the total estimated full project cost to $17.6 Million.

Will K-State Athletics use bonds to help fund this facility?
Yes, bonds will be secured to pay for the initial construction cost but because there are no revenue streams directly associated with this project (i.e., the sale of tickets, suites or club seats) these bonds will need to be paid off through philanthropic capital gifts.

Where will the BTF be located?
The BTF will be located on the EAST side of Bramlage Coliseum in close proximity for game day activities and other facilities such as the Academic Learning Center.

Will the BTF have an impact on my football or basketball parking space?
While there will be some impact during the construction process, there should not be a substantial long-term impact on Ahearn Fund priority football or basketball parking.

How large will this facility be and what all will it include?
The BTF will be approximately 50,000 square feet and will include:

  • Fully functional men’s and women’s basketball facilities
  • Practice courts (two full size courts designed for shared or private use)
  • Locker rooms (for both programs and coaches)
  • Players lounges (a private space for players to share)
  • Coaches offices (assistant coaches offices overlook practice courts)
  • Weight room (2500+ square feet) Sports medicine center (with hydrotherapy facility)
  • Team film room (theatre style to be utilized by both programs)
  • Entrance atrium & viewing deck (open design ideal for donor receptions recruiting functions)
