1970 (senior): Named first-team All-American by The Sporting News and Look Magazine ... First K-State All-American since Veryl Switzer in 1953 (17 years)... Honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press and UPI... Named first-team All-Big Eight... Started at corner in the North-South game and the Senior Bowl, and was the defensive captain in both games... Helped K-State to a 6-5 mark, including a 5-2 record in Big Eight games... Selected as team co-captain... Registered four interceptions, giving him 12 career picks... Finished career with 173 tackles and 29 pass breakups... Ranks fourth all-time at K-State in career interceptions and seventh in interception return yards... Drafted in 1971 by the Cleveland Browns and went on to play 13 seasons in Cleveland ... Started as a defensive back in the 1974 Pro Bowl.
1969 (junior): Named first-team All-Big Eight... Picked off three passes... Led K-State to a 5-5 record, including an upset blowout over No. 11 Oklahoma, 59-21, on homecoming.
1968 (sophomore): Honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press and UPI... Recorded a team-high five interceptions... Helped K-State to a 5-5 record, including a 21-0 victory in the first ever game at then-named KSU Stadium.
High School: All-around performer in at Trinity High School in Atlanta , Ga ... Was a basketball captain for two years while also participating in track and baseball... Registered a time of 9.3 seconds in the 100-meter dash.
