Bernat Named Unanimous Selection to All-Big 12 Team
May 31, 2024 | Women's Golf
MANHATTAN, Kan. – The postseason accolades for Kansas State women's golfer Carla Bernat continued on Friday, as the junior was a unanimous selection to the All-Big 12 team as voted on by the league's coaches, the conference office announced.
Â
A native of Castellon, Spain, Bernat was one of 11 golfers to earn All-Big 12 honors and one of five to be a unanimous selection. She is just the third women's golfer in school history to be named to the All-Big 12 team, joining Christine Boucher (2002, 2003 and 2004) and Connie Jaffrey (2018).
Â
This is the second postseason honor in as many weeks for Bernat, who last Friday was named a Second Team All-American by the Women's Golf Coaches Association of America.
Â
Bernat turned in one of the most impressive seasons in K-State women's golf history during her first campaign with the Wildcats, as she set a new school record for single-season scoring average (70.90), produced five of the program's top 11 54-hole scores and three of the school's top 26 18-hole scores.
Â
Consistently ranked in the top 30 of the World Amateur Golf Rankings throughout the year, Bernat will enter the 2024-25 campaign tied for third in K-State history in career victories (2) and fifth in career top-five finishes (6).
Â
A transfer from Tulane, Bernat helped guide the Wildcats to an impressive season under first-year head coach Stew Burke. K-State produced four top-five finishes during the 2023-24 campaign – its most in seven years – which included a win at the White Sands Invitational in October – its first tournament win away from Colbert Hills since October 2017. Additionally, K-State produced a team scoring average of 290.25, which was the best mark in school history (minimum 24 rounds) by nearly seven shots per round.
