Two Wildcats doubles team started competition on Friday
Two K-State women's tennis doubles teams started competition on Thursday (Nov. 7) in two ITA Championships in Ann Arbor, Mich., and Rome, Ga.

Senior Veronika Kulhava and sophomore Tereza Polakova represent the Big 12 in the ITA Conference Masters at Rome Tennis Center while sophomore Maralgoo Chogsomjav and junior Maria Santos compete in the ITA Central Sectional at Varsity Tennis Center hosted by Michigan.

After being selected on Tuesday night as the women's doubles team representatives for the Big 12 conference, Kulhava and Polakova swept Austin Peay State's Sophia Baranov and Denise Torrealba in the best of two sets, 6-1, 6-1.

The pair advances to the round of 16 to face Parvathi Shanker and Emily Tannenbaum from the U.S. Naval Academy on Friday at 1 p.m. CT.

After qualifying for the Sectionals in October, Chogsomjav and Santos started in the doubles round of 16 against Jade Otway and Isabel Pascual from TCU, falling short 1-6, 3-6.

The duo will continue in the consolation bracket against the hosting Wolverines' Julia Fliegner and Reese Miller.

Competition resumes on Friday (Nov. 8) in the ITA Championships while two Wildcats—sophomores Charlotte Keitel and Zali Morris—travel to Tempe, Ariz., for the Thunderbird Invitational hosted by Arizona State.
