Wildcats Compete Across States in Three Tournaments

Two doubles teams competed in another day of ITA tournaments
The K-State women's tennis team competed in three separate tournaments on Friday (Nov. 8) with two doubles teams in ITA tournaments and another Wildcat competing on the West coast.

On the first day of the Thunderbird Invitational hosted by Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz., sophomore Zali Morris was successful in straight sets over Leontina Stojanovic from Northern Arizona, 6-1, 6-4.

Senior Veronika Kulhava and sophomore Tereza Polakova competed in the doubles round of 16 at the ITA Conference Masters Championship in Rome, Ga., representing the Big 12.

The duo encountered a high scoring match against Parvathi Shanker and Emily Tannenbaum from the U.S. Naval Academy. In a best of two sets the match encountered a tiebreaker after Kulhava and Polakova claimed the first set 6-4. After dropping the second set 2-6, the Wildcats were defeated 6-4, 2-6, 8-10.

At the ITA Central Sectional Championship, sophomore Maralgoo Chogsomjav and junior Maria Santos competed in the consolation bracket. Facing the Wolverines' Julia Fliegner and Reese Miller, they battled in the first set but ultimately fell short 5-7, 1-6.

Morris will continue to represent K-State on Saturday (Nov. 9) in the Thunderbird Invite facing Daryna Shoshyna from NAU.
