Women's Soccer History

2016 - Inaugural season • Competed as an NCAA Division I Independent • Ranked fourth in the nation for average attendance with 2,265 fans • First goal in program history scored by freshman forward Katie Cramer, directly on a corner kick, at Saint Louis on Aug. 19, 2016 • First positive result came on Aug. 21, 2016 at SIUE, with a 0-0 draw • First win came on Aug. 26, 2016 at Oakland with a 6-0 result • First home match on Sept. 16, 2016 against Northern Iowa • First home goal scored by sophomore forward Tatum Wagner on Sept. 16, 2016 • First home win came on Sept. 25, 2016 against South Dakota • K-State won consecutive matches for the first time on Sept. 25 and Sept. 30 • At conclusion of season, first three student-athletes earn Academic All-Big 12 honors: Kim Braddock (first team), Miranda Larkin (first) and Addie Jenkins (second)

 


 

TIMELINE

Oct. 12, 2014 - K-State Director of Athletics John Currie announces the addition of women’s soccer as a varsity sport. K-State to begin play in 2016 season.
Dec. 26, 2014 - K-State Director of Athletics John Currie announces the hiring of Mike Dibbini as the program’s first head coach.
Jan. 7, 2015 - Dibbini introduced to the K-State nation at introductory press conference at the K-State Alumni Center, followed by an introduction at the K-State/TCU MBB game that night in Bramlage Coliseum.
Jan. 27, 2015 - First official K-State soccer apparel goes on sale.
Feb. 6, 2015 - Dibbini announces the inaugural signing class: forwards Krista Haddock and Elizabeth Hernandez and midfielder Madison Wedekind. Trio redshirted the 2015-16 athletic season.
Feb. 23, 2015 - In front of a sellout crowd in Bramlage Coliseum for the K-State/KU MBB game, K-State unveils the K-State Founders Club and official Soccer crest. The crest was selected by fans in an online vote from three options.
March 2, 2015 - Dibbini hires first member of his staff, adding assistant coach Gabe Romo.
May 9, 2015 - K-State breaks ground on competition and practice fields for K-State Soccer and Football located south of Tointon Family Stadium.
Jan. 11, 2016 - Dibbini hires second member of his staff, adding assistant coach Jessica Smith.
May 12, 2016 - K-State’s inaugural schedule announced, featuring four home matches.
August 19, 2016 - First match in program history played at Saint Louis, a 3-1 loss.
August 26, 2016 - First win in program history, a 6-0 win at Oakland in Rochester, Michigan.
Sept. 16, 2016 - K-State’s first home match played against Northern Iowa, a 2-1 loss.
Sept. 25, 2016 - K-State's first home win in program history, a 2-0 win over South Dakota.
