  • Title:
    Offensive Line

Brian Lepak, an intelligent young coach who has had a hand in K-State’s offensive success the last three years, is in his fifth season overall at K-State and first as the Wildcats’ offensive line coach in 2025. He served as the tight ends coach from 2022 through 2024, while he was a senior offensive quality control coach in 2021.

Lepak (pronounced luh-PACK) has found quick success during his first three years as a full-time coach for the Wildcats, tutoring Ben Sinnott to All-Big 12 First Team accolades in both 2022 and 2023, while the Wildcats had two tight ends pick up All-Big 12 honors in 2024 in Garrett Oakley (second team) and Will Swanson (honorable mention). It was the first time since 1997 that the Wildcats had a pair of All-Big 12 tight ends in the same season, while Oakley’s second-team designation marked the first time in the Big 12 era that K-State had a first- or second-team all-conference tight end in three straight seasons.

Under Lepak’s guidance, the K-State tight end unit combined for a nation-leading 13 touchdown receptions in 2024. Five of those came from Oakley, which tied for the second most in school history by a tight end and third by any sophomore. Oakley enters his junior campaign of 2025 with seven career receiving touchdowns to rank third in school history among tight ends.

An integral part of the offensive staff, Lepak helped Kansas State finish in the top 15 nationally in four offensive categories during the 2024 season as it ranked second in rushing yards per carry at 6.08 (first in Big 12), 10th in sacks allowed per game at 1.00 (second in Big 12), 11th in rushing yards per game at 215.5 (second in Big 12) and 12th in tackles for loss allowed per game at 3.92 (third in Big 12). Lepak also helped the 2024 Wildcats rank in the top 10 in school history in 15 game or season categories. Among those were school records for offensive yards per play (6.57) and rushing yards per carry (6.08), while K-State tied for third in passing touchdowns (25), ranked fourth in offensive yards per game (426.8), fifth in total offensive yards (5,549), sixth in rushing yards (2,801), seventh in completions (222) and 10th in both passing yards (2,749) and pass attempts (383).

Over his first two seasons tutoring the K-State tight ends, Lepak coached Sinnott to top-10 rankings nationally among the position group in receiving yards (third), receptions (fourth) and receiving touchdowns (tied for eighth). He left K-State by tying for the most career receiving touchdowns by a tight end (10) in addition to ranking third among the position in receptions (82) and fourth in receiving yards (1,138).

Under Lepak’s leadership, Sinnott had a banner year as a junior in 2023 as he earned Honorable Mention All-America honors from Phil Steele and was a semifinalist for the John Mackey Award, the first player in school history to be named a semifinalist for the award that is presented annually to the nation’s top tight end. All Sinnott did was record the most single-season receptions (49), receiving yards (676) and receiving touchdowns (6) by a tight end in school history, marks that each ranked in the top five nationally among the position group.

Sinnott was selected in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft – No. 53 overall – by the Washington Commanders, the highest-drafted tight end in school history.

Lepak’s position group – a diverse one that not only excels in the passing game but also in run blocking – helped the 2023 Wildcat offense rank in the top 30 nationally in 11 offensive categories, including scoring (10th – 37.1 points per game), rushing (11th – 204.1 yards per game), third down conversions (11th – 47.9%), rushing touchdowns (12th – 32) and first downs (12th – 310). The Wildcats ranked 30th nationally in red zone offense (89.23%) but were second in the country by scoring touchdowns on 78.46% of their red zone attempts.

K-State also ranked in the top 10 in school history in 32 game or season categories in 2023. Among those was a school-record 30 passing touchdowns, No. 2 rankings in offensive yards per game (445.2) and first downs (310), and No. 3 showings in total yards (5,788) and completions (258). Thanks to his work, Lepak was named the Big 12 Tight Ends Coach of the Year by Our Coaching Network.

In Lepak’s first season coaching the tight ends, Sinnott averaged 14.4 yards per catch to rank fourth nationally as he earned his first All-Big 12 honor. The K-State fullbacks and tight ends helped the Wildcats win the 2022 Big 12 title thanks to an offensive unit that ranked in the top 10 in school history in 11 categories, including ranking second in offensive yards (5,863) and plays (958), fourth in rushing yards (2,916) and fifth in yards per game (418.8).

The Wildcats ranked 15th in the country in rushing yards per game (208.3) in 2022, their highest national ranking since placing ninth in 2003. Additionally, K-State’s 210.5 passing yards per game and 421.6 total yards per game were the most since the 2014 season.

Lepak came to K-State prior to the 2021 season as a Senior Offensive Quality Control Coach, spending a bulk of the 2021 season breaking down future opponents’ tendencies and potential player matchups for the coaching staff, and he assisted with the early implementation of the game plan each week. Lepak then coached the Wildcat fullbacks and tight ends in K-State’s victory over LSU in the Texas Bowl, seeing four of his pupils catch passes, including two by senior tight end Daniel Imatorbhebhe that went for 29 yards.

Prior to coming to Manhattan, Lepak served one year as the run game coordinator and offensive line coach at Southern. During his lone season in Baton Rouge, Lepak helped the Jaguars earn a top-20 final ranking during the 2021 spring season. Under Lepak’s watch, all five Southern offensive linemen earned All-SWAC honors, including three first-team performers. Southern finished the COVID-shortened spring season with a 5-1 record.

Lepak spent the previous three seasons as a graduate assistant at Oklahoma. While on the Sooner staff, he assisted with the offensive line that helped pave the way for multiple national award winners – including two Heisman trophy winners – and helped lead the team to three consecutive Big 12 Championships and College Football Playoff appearances. In 2018, the offensive line was honored by winning the Joe Moore Award for the nation’s most outstanding offensive line unit. He went to Oklahoma after spending the 2014 through 2016 seasons as a graduate assistant at Indiana.

A native of Claremore, Oklahoma, Lepak was an offensive lineman for two seasons at Colorado State before transferring to Oklahoma where he spent three years, including the 2010 Big 12 Championship season, while he was an Academic All-American that year.

After completing his playing career, Lepak was awarded the Dr. Prentice Gautt Postgraduate Scholar Award and attended law school at the University of Oklahoma College of Law where he was a member of the Oklahoma Law Review. He graduated in 2014 and was admitted to the Oklahoma Bar Association the same year. In addition to his law degree, he has dual degrees in Accounting and Finance from the OU Price College of Business where he was the Outstanding Senior in Accounting.

Lepak and his wife, Colleen, have four children, Thomas, Penelope, Luke and Margaret.
