Kansas State University Athletics
K-State Athletics Hall of Fame

- Induction:
- 2000
Vince Gibson has been referred to as the “first dreamer” in the football program at K-State. He is third on the all-time list of coaching victories, finishing his eight seasons with 33 wins. But the victories alone pale in comparison to his commitment to the football program and K-State athletics as a whole.
Gibson coached the Wildcats to back-to-back victories over Oklahoma in 1969 and 1970, with the 59 points scored in the 1969 victory standing as the most points K-State has scored against the Sooners.
The 1970 team finished 6-5, the first winning season in 15 years. Two of his other teams finished with five victories.
In addition to being in the Kansas State University Athletics Hall of Fame, he is also enshrined in the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame.
