Murdoch, Heffel participate in tournament over break

Manhattan, Kan. - Kansas State senior women's golfer Edie Murdoch and freshman Sarah Heffel played in the Joanne Winter Silver Belle tournament over the Christmas Holidays in their home state of Arizona.Murdoch placed tied for 10th with scores of 75-75-73-223 in the 114-participant field played at the Trilogy Golf Club in Gilbert, Ariz. Heffel shot rounds of 74-74-86-234 to place tied for 37th.
Had the tournament been a NCAA event, Murdoch would have recorded the lowest 54-hole score of her career. Murdoch shot rounds of 76-76-74-226 at the Sunflower Invitation at Colbert Hills Golf Course on Oct. 17, 2000. Heffel would have also tied the lowest round of her young career if it were a NCAA event. Her opening rounds of 74 tied the round she shot at the Alltel Husker Invitational on Sept. 10, 2001.
The Kansas State women's golf team returns to action on March 3 when it travels to Bryan, Texas, for the Texas A&M Verizon Memorial Tournament.
