Wildcats Finish 15th at NCAA Regionals

East Lansing, Mich. - The Kansas State women's golf finished in 15th place with rounds of 325-326-313--964 at the NCAA Women's Division I Central Regional, hosted by Michigan State University, at the Forest Akers West Golf Course.
Miranda Smith, who was tied for 30th after two rounds, shot 77 Saturday and finished in a eight-way tie for 39th place. Smith's rounds for the tournament were 78-81-77--236. Christine Boucher finished tied for 47th place with scores of 79-80-78--237. Elise Carpentier shot rounds of 81-83-81--245 and finished tied for 75th place, and Sarah Heffel finished in 90th after posting a final-round 77. Her two previous rounds of 87 and 86 gave her a tournament total of 250. Edie Murdoch, who completed her last tournament as a Wildcat, finished tied for 93rd with scores of 87-82-84--253.
Tulsa, which was in fourth place after two rounds, shot a tournament-low round of 290 Saturday to claim the team title. Tulsa recorded a three-round total of 914, while Ohio State and Texas tied for second with scores of 918. Purdue (920) and Oklahoma State (921) round out the top five.
Tulsa's Stacy Prammanasudh took individual medalist honors with a three-round score of 219. Kent State's Martina Gillen placed second with a 223 and Purdue's Caroline Laurens took third with a 224. Baylor's Melanie Hagewood (225) and Malinda Johnson of Wisconsin (226) round out the top five.
