Game 1 - Texas Tech 5, Kansas State 4 (12 innings)
? Bryon Smith lifted a sacrifice fly to left field with one out in the bottom of the 12th to lift Texas Tech to a 5-4 victory over Kansas State in the first game of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Tournament before a crowd of 7,584.
? The victory was the 16th straight by Texas Tech, breaking the school record of 15, set by Tech's 1998 team.
? The game was the first Phillips 66 Big 12 Tournament to go extra innings since Missouri defeated Texas Tech 8-7 in 12 innings at the Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City on May 20,1999. It also tied the most innings played in a Big 12 Conference Tournament game.
? Smith tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the 11th with a solo homer into the right field bullpen after the Wildcats took the lead on a wild pitch by Red Raider reliever Steve Rowe.
? Pat Maloney opened the game with a solo homer over the left field fence to give Kansas State a 1-0 lead, but the Red Raiders tied the game in the bottom of the inning .
? The Wildcats took a 3-1 lead in the top of the eighth with a two-run single by Ty Soto before Texas Tech tied the game in the bottom of the inning on a two-run double to right field by third baseman Jake Brown to send the game into extra innings.
? For Kansas State, it was their first time in the Big 12 Tournament and was the second time this season that the Wildcats had went extra innings with the Red Raiders. The Wildcats defeated Texas Tech 7-5 in 15 innings on April 5 in Lubbock.
? Franco Pezely came in relief for Kansas State and threw 4 1/3 innings, his longest outing of the year and the most pitches at 81, 20 more than his longest outing on April 14 against Texas A&M.
