WILDCAT TEAM NOTES
* Tonight's game marked the 107th season of Kansas State football and thefirst of four straight home contests against non-conference opponents.
* The Wildcats ran their home winning streak over non-conference opponents to35 games this evening.
* K-State improved its record to 4-0 in games played in the month of August.
* Kansas State won its 13 straight season opener dating back to 1990.
* With tonight's two interceptions, K-State has now gotten a pick in 41 of thelast 46 games and in 50 of the last 56 outings (including bowl games).
WILDCAT INDIVIDUAL NOTES
* Darren Sproles had a career-high 135 yards on 19 carries and one touchdown. His performance marks the 12th time a Wildcat rusher has surpassed the 100-yard plateau in a season opener. It is also the fourth time in the last five seasons that a K-State ball carrier has accomplished the feat. The last 100-yard K-State rusher was Josh Scobey (198, vs. Missouri, 11/24/01).
* Joe Rheem connected on the sixth consecutive field goals of his career when he hit a 38-yarder in the second quarter. The field goal matched his career high set in the 2001 season finale against Missouri (11/24). With four extra-point kicks tonight, Rheem has run his streak to 21+ consecutive PAT kicks.
* Terence Newman picked off his sixth career passes tonight. He alsoregistered a career-high 35-yard punt return in the second quarter.
* Bobby Walker recorded the fourth-longest interception in Kansas Statehistory with a 73-yard return in the first quarter. The pick was also the second of the senior's career (9 yards at Iowa State, 11/3/01) and his first career touchdown. K-State's last interception for a touchdown was Nov. 3, 2001 when Milton Proctor returned a 13-yard pick at Iowa State.
* Ayo Saba scored his first career touchdown on a two-yard run in the first quarter and his second on a two-yard rush in the fourth quarter.
* Derrick Evans had personal-highs of three catches for 74 yards, including a career-high 41-yard reception late in the third quarter, while Taco Wallace had career-highs of three receptions for 62 yards.
* Three Wildcats - Travon Magee, Darren Sproles and Davin Dennis - all made their first career receptions tonight.
* Ell Roberson recorded his 10th rushing touchdown of this career with an18-yarder in the third quarter.
