Men's Hoops Falls Short Against Colorado, 69-63

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - Michel Morandais scored 25 points, including fivepoints in the final 3:13, and Colorado snapped Kansas State's eight-gamewinning streak, 69-63 on Wednesday night.
The Buffaloes (11-4, 1-1 Big 12) got 12 points from Blair Wilson - all inthe second half - and 11 from Stephane Pelle.
Kansas State (10-5, 1-1) was led by Tim Ellis' 14 points. Matt Siebrandtadded 12, and Pervis Pasco had nine points and 14 rebounds.
Colorado, bouncing back from Saturday's 69-54 loss to Oklahoma, went up42-34 on Morandais' dunk on an alley-oop pass from Pelle early in the secondhalf.
Kansas State cut the deficit to four points, but Morandais hit a 13-footjumper, Wilson a 3-pointer and Antoine McGee a driving layup for a 52-41 leadwith 10:37 remaining. Moments later, Wilson's two free throws gave Colorado itsbiggest lead, 57-44.
Siebrandt had four baskets in a 9-0 run that made it 57-53.
Wilson then hit a 3-pointer with 4:18 left, and Morandais followed with ashort jumper and a 3-pointer for a 65-54 lead with 1:16 left.
A pair of 3-point baskets by Gilson DeJesus in the final 27 seconds made thescore respectable.
K-State's comeback hopes were hurt by poor free-throw shooting (3-of-12) inthe second half.
Colorado center David Harrison played only 24 minutes, fouling out with 2:55left after scoring seven points.
Morandais scored 14 points in the first half as Colorado took a seven-pointhalftime lead.
Morandais' second of three 3-pointers in the half gave Colorado an early13-6 advantage.
Siebrandt's driving layup helped the Wildcats reduce the deficit to fourpoints at 19-15, but Morandais followed with a three-point play and McGee witha 3-pointer for a 25-15 lead.
Ellis had a three-point play and a 3-point basket to make it 33-31 with 2:23remaining.
Pelle, on a feed from McGee, scored a fastbreak layup and was fouled, makingthe free throw, with 1:10 to go. Morandais beat the buzzer with a 15-footjumper, putting Colorado ahead 38-31 at intermission.
