Nov 13, 2003 | General
Greeley, Colo. - Kansas State volleyball players Cari Jensen and Lauren Goehring have been named to the 2003 CoSIDA Academic All-District VII Women’s Volleyball team, the College Sports Information Director’s of America announced Thursday.
Jensen, a senior from Fowler, Colo., was named to the first team for the second straight year and is automatically eligible for Academic All-America honors while Goehring was named to the second team. Kansas State was one of two schools to have two student-athletes named to the academic team.
An academic all-Big 12, all-district and all-America selection last season, Jensen has maintained a 3.94 grade-point average in kinesiology/pre-health at Kansas State. An all-conference player on the court last season, Jensen currently is third on the squad this season in kills with 266 and has cracked the K-State career charts in several offensive categories. Currently, Jensen is eighth all-time in attacks with 2,930 and 11th in kills with 1,100. Jensen is the first K-State volleyball player to be named to the all-district team twice in her career and will look to become Kansas State’s first two-time Academic All-American.
Goehring, a senior middle blocker from Fort Worth, Texas, was named to the second team after maintaining a 3.64 grade-point average in Management and Operations Management. A two-time Academic All-Big 12 selection, Goehring currently leads the Big 12 in hitting percentage at .408, which also ranks 12th nationally. The 2003 Pre-season Big 12 Player of the Year, Goehring is on pace to set the Kansas State season hitting percentage record as the senior currently has tallied a .408 mark this season. Goehring is currently 10th all-time at Kansas State in kills with 1,115, fourth in block assists with 344, and is on pace to set the career hitting percentage record with her .348 mark.
