The award will be formally presented at the 2003 Doak Walker Award Presentation Banquet in
Sproles, who has gained 3,388 yards during his three-year K-State career, currently leads the nation in total rushing this season with 1,713 yards and ranks fifth in yards per game with 131.77. On a per-carry basis, Sproles’ 6.32 yards per rush ties for 6th nationally (4th among RBs), but is tops among players with 200 or more carries.
Sproles’ school-record 1,713 yards in 13 games this year ranks fifth all-time on the Big 12's single-season chart. The junior also added K-State’s single-game rushing record to his resume this season, rushing for 273 yards on 43 attempts vs.
Sproles also leads the country in all-purpose running with a school-record 2,305 yards and was the first player in the country to top 2,000 yards in that category this season. His per-game average of 177.31 ranks second nationally.
The junior became the first Wildcat to rush for over 200 yards twice in a season with his performance vs.
