Goehring, Guerre Named AVCA All-Americans

DALLAS, Texas Senior middle blocker Lauren Goehring capped her brilliant Kansas State career on Wednesday, as she became the first Wildcat to be named a first team All-American in the 30-year history of volleyball at the school in announcement by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
In addition, junior setter Gabby Guerre was selected as one of 60 honorable mention All-Americans by the organization. It marked the first year that the association has given out honorable mention citations.
Goehring was the only Big 12 selection on the 12-member first team, joining Emily Adams (USC), Cassie Busse (Minnesota), Bibiana Candelas (USC), Aury Cruz (Florida), Kele Eveland (Georgia Tech), Jennifer Joines (Pacific), Ogonna Nnamani (Stanford), April Ross (USC), Cara Smith (Penn State), Katie Wilkins (Pepperdine) and Kim Willoughby (Hawai’i).

The reigning Big 12 Player of the Year, Goehring set a new single-season and career record with a .409 mark this season and a .354 career percentage. The .409 mark this season was tops in the Big 12 and tied for ninth nationally. She posted 10 or more kills in 25 matches for the Wildcats in 2003, while tallying a .300 or better hitting percentage in 29 of the team’s 35 matches. The senior from

She ranked first in the conference in four categories, including total assists (1,517), kills (221), blocks per game (0.87), digs per game (2.33, while she was second in assists per game (12.04).
