Kansas State Head Coach Jim Wooldridge Quotes
Dec 22, 2003 | Men's Basketball
On his feelings about the game...
“I don’t know if surprised is the right word. I thought we’d be further along than this. That’s not the case. The way we played in the first half and some stretches of the second is really disappointing. It’s unfortunate we didn’t play better. Our bench got short and we didn’t have enough quality play tonight.”
On why the team played poorly...
“I can’t put my finger on it. We played poorly and it’s disappointing. Their trapping and back court pressure caused some of the problems. Once we got it in the front court, we played tentative and without confidence. We couldn’t get guys to cut and move. Our ball movement was stagnant. It’s hard to play if you don’t move the ball and move bodies and make them defend you.”
On the suspension of Jarrett Hart...
“I thought we’d get a game down the road where we could play some of the young kids. I didn’t want to wait until conference play to sit him. We could have used him tonight and used his ball handling and passing.”
On Marques Hayden...
“I thought in the second half, he played pretty well. He and Jeremiah (Massey) missed some close shots and got off to a shaky start, but he played through it. He’s made progess. I hope this doesn’t jinx him because he’s given us some quality minutes.”
