Pasco, DeJesus Pick Up Honorable Mention All-Big 12 Accolades

DALLAS - The Kansas State men's basketball team received some good news just prior to its departure for the 2003 Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Tournament Wednesday, learning that both Gilson DeJesus and Pervis Pasco had both received honorable mention All-Big 12 accolades.
DeJesus, a 29-game starter for the Wildcats and the team's leading scored, was tapped by the Associated Press to its All-Big 12 honorable metion squad, released Monday. One of the country's leading 3-point shooters throughout the season, he averaged 11.3 points per game and connected on 78 treys.
One of the Big 12's most improved players in 2002-03, DeJesus nearly double his production in both scoring and rebounding this season and was also selected to the league's All-Underrated team in a media poll.
Pasco, an All-Newcomer selection a year ago, was named to the conference coaches' All-Big 12 honorable mention team Wednesday. A starter in all 58 games of his K-State career, the senior averaged 10.6 points and 7.5 rebounds during 2002-03. One of the Wildcats' hottest players entering the Big 12 Tournament, Pasco scored in double figures in each of the final five games of the regular season, averaging 13 points per game.
Perhaps Kansas State's most steady offensive player during the Big 12 season, Matt Siebrandt was chosen to the Big 12's All-Improved team by the media. The conference's leader in terms of field goal percentage in league games, Siebrandt averaged 12.2 points on 57.9-percent shooting during Big 12 play, scoring in twin figures in 13 of 16 contests. As a junior, Siebrandt averaged 7.9 points per game, including 9.2 points in conference games.
Kansas State, seeded No. 11, opens Big 12 Conference Tournament action on Thursday night against No. 6-seeded Colorado. The game, which tips at 8:30 p.m., will be televised nationally by ESPN2 with Ron Franklin and Jon Sunvold calling the action.
Should the Wildcats get past the Buffaloes, K-State would meet the No. 3 seed, Oklahoma, in the Quarterfinals Friday night at 8:20 p.m. That game will be televised in the Big 12 region by ESPN+Plus and to the rest of the nation via ESPN2 in a split broadcast.
