KANSAS STATE HEAD COACH JIM WOOLDRIDGE
On the turning point of the game...
“It’s hard to say. We got more active. We rebounded down the stretch and we found our shot makers. Dramane’s buckets were big. Tim Ellis kept us in it all night and he might have won it for us. We stayed more active on both ends. It’s hard to say why, but we finished well.”
On the in-bounds play at the end of the game...
“It was designed to get the ball in bounds. But he is playing with confidence, he found space, squared up and made the shot.”
On tonight’s game...
“A&M had a good game plan and they executed it. We got off to a sluggish start offensively and defensively. It didn’t look like we had any steam. It’s been a tough three days. We were in a position to win that game and we let it get away from us. That is a tough game to come back from.”
On how the team won...
“It’s great to get that win, but it’s more important how we won. It shows the kids that if they keep digging and plugging along, they can make things happen. This kind of win might mean more than any other kind.”
On Frank Richards...
“He was 0-7 from the floor. He can play better. You see in kids sometimes that they have stretches of games where they aren’t as confident as they need to be. We know he can come out of it.”
On Dramane Diarra...
“He found the extra will to get the job done and he battled it out.”
On rebounding from the “We came off a tough loss. You can’t give your home court away. We fought through it. The win tonight will boost our spirits and help us move forward.” On “We all know how good they’ve been the past couple years, especially on their home floor. It takes an extraordinary game to win on their floor.” On motivating the team... “We talked about it yesterday. I told them their backs were against the wall early in the league season. I didn’t tell them that to put pressure on them, but I just wanted them to understand they need to fight the game out regardless of how they play. Then they will find a way to win and dig it out. That’s exactly what happened tonight.”
