SOPHOMORE FORWARD MARQUES HAYDEN
On the game...
“It looked like we sparked at the right time. Free throws play a real big part in it. Defense was big too. I think there were like three or four possessions where we really got down there and played defense. There were a lot of opportunities to foul, but we were disciplined at that time.”
On defense...
“We already knew coming into this game that he (Antonie Wright) is one of those players that can come off screens and knock down shots. Tim Ellis originally matched up with him (Antonie Wright), so Ellis did a pretty good job.”
On the win...
“It feels good, but at the same time I have to be realistic here and after I get home and rest for an hour, the hunger starts to kick back in, and I’ll be ready to go to
On the return of Dez Willingham...
“It was excellent. It opened up allowed Frank (Richards) to sit down a couple more minutes to catch his breath. Dez really opened up. He hit a couple of key shots that put us up by one or two. It felt pretty good having him out there. I was cautious of him getting hurt. You really don’t want to rush back from an injury like that.”
SENIOR GUARD JARRETT HART
On the coaches...
“The coaches have a lot of confidence in us. They have an extra attitude. Coach Wooldridge just keeps pushing us to be better. You can see it in his face. He is a little frustrated at times. He brought us in the other day. He had a meeting with us. We just played for him tonight.”
On what turned the game around...
“Just hard-nosed play. They out-rebounded us, and their shooting percentage was better than ours. It’s one of those games that’s just hard-nosed. You can see it in the huddle in everyone’s eyes. Everybody wanted to win. We’ve been beating up on each other, and loosing very close games here and there. We knew we had to fight back and win the game. I think we did pretty good tonight by coming back, being focused, and just executing what we do in practice.”
On the game...
“It feels great to get this win. This is probably one of our biggest wins this year because we’ve been on this loosing streak. You can’t keep looking at the game before, and you have to come back and fight. We are going in on Saturday to play a good
FRESHMAN GUARD DEZ WILLINGHAM
On his first game back from injury...
“I’m just happy to be back out there and to help the team. I wasn’t that nervous. I was more nervous about playing in my first Big 12 game more than anything. We got a win, that’s all that matters.”
On the injury...
“I’ve been working out for a couple weeks, and its felt good. That first shot I made felt real good. At first I was kind of thinking about it (shoulder injury). After I played for a while, I forgot about it. I forgot it even was hurt.”
