Feb 21, 2004 | Men's Basketball

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) -- Michel Morandais scored 21 points as Colorado beat Kansas State 72-62 Saturday night to sweep the Wildcats for the first time in four years.

Colorado (15-8, 7-5 Big 12) held Kansas State (12-11, 4-8) to one field goal over a 15-minute stretch to break a four-game losing streak in Big 12 road games.

The Buffaloes out-rebounded the Wildcats 40-31 and held them to 36 percent from the field in the second half.

Blair Wilson added 15 points for Colorado, David Harrison had 13 points and 10 rebounds and Lamar Harris had 10 rebounds.

After a 7-0 run late in the first half, Colorado went on an 8-1 run to start the second half and took a commanding 45-32 lead.

Kansas State cut a 16-point deficit to eight with 1:08 left, but got no closer.

Jeremiah Massey led Kansas State with 23 points and 11 rebounds and Tim Ellis scored 16.

Kansas State made seven straight shots to take a 25-22 lead with 8:21 remaining in the first half.

But the Wildcats then went without a field goal for the last 8:21 of the half, and Blair Wilson scored seven straight points to help Colorado lead 38-30 at the half.
